The Irrigation Profiler is a new member of the Ranch System online suite, that provides immediate and intuitive information about irrigation efficiency and root system activity, without forcing the user to perform complex data analysis. The Soil Profiler provides a unique new way of viewing data from soil moisture sensors as a colored soil profile map, rather than just sensor line graphs. The farmer can change time periods as desired and the color map will automatically redraw and show the soil status. |
Traditionally, data from soil moisture sensors have been shown for each level as a line graph. This only indirectly shows the water status in the soil, since the user must keep in mind at what level each sensor is placed, and lines may cross each other and make the picture very complex. |
The Soil Profiler solves this problem by rearranging data intuitively along the physical soil profile and by using user defined color ranges. |
In this example, it is very easy to see effect of the irrigation event on August 9th, and the subsequent drying out over the following week. Notice how the active root zone is revealed between 10 and 25 inches.. |
The above images shows the alternative (classic) view of soil moisture sensors. Notice how you can follow the detailed shifts of specific sensors, and select/deselect view of sensors. However, sensors are NOT stacked according to soil depth, so the graph is complex to interpret. |
However, using Ranch Systems software, you can now literally toggle between the line graph view and the Soil Profiler, without loosing the context of the sensor and time period you are viewing. |
