Ranch Systems Newsletter - December 2010

Presidents Message
Welcome to the December newsletter. I'm happy to announce that we had another record year, growing our sales 60% compared to 2009, and again I thank you for trusting us with your business. We have a list of exciting news to share, as you can see on this page. If you have any comments or suggestions, please email me anytime at jacob@ranchsystems.com.

I wish you a Happy Holiday Season and a prosperous New Year!
Frost Alert Node
(No Monthly Fee)
For the 2011 frost season we have a new version of our wireless nodes available, which is dedicated to constantly monitoring the temperature and sending text messages to any number of phones when temperature drops below a programmable limit. This "frost node" has a built in GSM modem but does not report data to our regular online application. This means you do not need our regular service plan, but instead you simply purchase pre-paid phone cards with the number of text message credit you need, as you need it. Should you later decide to upgrade to our fully-fledged online telemety, any "frost node" can be upgraded for a small fee, protecting your investment.
Boeing Solar
We wanted to highlight a recent success into a new market for our technology: Boeing's solar technology business group chose our systems for monitoring solar plants. We thank Boeing for the trust look forward to working with them and other customers in the solar field..
Repeater Functionality
Our customers have requested to have our wireless nodes act as repeaters for each other, thereby allowing "multi-hops" or "daisy chains" of nodes to extend the range of our solution from the point of a Base Station. We are happy to announce that this feature is now available - and at no additional cost. Please note that with each "hop" from a base station, a delay of 5-10 minutes may be observed before data from that particular node is available online. For this reason we don't recommend time critical functions be located at the far end of a "daisy chain".
Ranch Systems Webinars
Join our next "Webinar"! In our webinars we explain the various aspects of the Ranch Systems solutions, and adapt it slightly each time with the seasons and the advances in our technology. Common for all webinars are LIVE demonstrations of our web software. Upcoming webinars are announced on the top of our home page, and registration is required. View invite for the next seminar here
Maintaining your RS equipment
This is the time of year to think about the upkeep of your existing Ranch Systems equipment. If you are on our Premium Service plan, you are fully covered, and our service technicians are monitoring and servicing your systems, and are available free of charge for inspecting any other anomalies you may notice. However, if you are on Basic Service plan, this maintenance is your own responsibility, but we are still available and happy to provide advice by phone (415 884 2770) or email (support@ranchsystems.com). There is also a recorded video seminar available here
Access Control / Gate Security
We now have a solution for monitoring and controlling a ranch gate or other restricted area. Our access control solution builds on our existing camera solution by adding a keypad that can be built into walls or pillars, as well as the capability to activate a gate via relay outputs. Motion detectors can also be added. For more information click here.
